Fanuel Muindi is the founder and Chief Resident of the Sai Resident Collective (SRC). As a civic science scholar-journalist, he leads the Civic Science Media Laboratory within the collective. A neuroscientist by training, Fanuel earned his PhD in Organismal Biology from Stanford University in 2013 and completed his postdoctoral training in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT in 2015. Some of his professional experiences over the last decade include serving as the inaugural Lasker Foundation & Research!America Fellow for Civic Science, Professor of the Practice in Civic Science at Northeastern University, Assistant Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University, and as a Senior Consultant for the Vivien Thomas Scholars Initiative at Johns Hopkins University. A Tanzanian native, Fanuel is also an architectural street photographer and has exhibited his work at several galleries in the Boston area.
